Grimsey, Iceland at Midnight, June 2022
Putting up a test post and a picture from last summer, the grandest yet of family adventures celebrating my oldest daughter’s graduation from high school and kicking off college at the UW. I had originally visited the tiny island of Grimsey off the north coast of Iceland in 2014 and often dreamed of bringing my family back to share.
I wasn’t sure I would be able to recapture the magic of that solo visit, rooted in a wild place where the sun dances along the horizon for 6 straight hours for a few weeks around the summer solstice, but not only did we get the magic, it was orders of magnitude greater! I will be thinking of this crowing moment of an unforgettable adventure to my dying days.
